Stonehenge Astrophotography

“The Return of the King”

I was disappointed at first when photography students from the local college began to light the rocks from inside the circle. After travelling for two hours, I had a short window to photograph the Milky Way in a striking vertical position, and it was a shame to have a wasted trip. But after taking a couple of images and looking at the back of the camera, I realised that this was an opportunity to get quite a surreal and unique shot.

I like the light spilling from the centre of the stones with the Milky Way rising behind it. The alien origins of Stonehenge proved? Or the second coming of King Arthur? I’ll leave you to decide.
