Most of the images I took while camping on Antarctica were nothing special. However, this final subject using the last of the light made carting around three tripods worth the effort. like almost everything about this shot. There is flow in the white through the whale vertebrae and the sweep of the darker rock taking your eyes toward the penguins in the mid ground. If I was being too picky, perhaps the mountain ridge could have been had a more interesting shape. Indeed, there was a picturesque jagged section just out of frame to the left. I focus stacked the final picture for sharpness throughout the frame and I chose a mid-ground shot where the penguins were in their most interesting postures. I had to do a little bit of cloning on the snow to remove two boot prints as I had settled on this composition late. But overall, I am happy with this photo.
