“Rock, Stick, Cotton”
I’d spend the night shooting astrophotography in Ayrmer cover, but despite the late bedtime, I couldn’t resist returning early for sunrise. The tide was the perfect height, and the clouds looked like they had the potential to ignite. The colours were spectacular, and I spent over an hour with this scene as the clouds behind turned blue to red through purple, pink and orange. Although the colours were more dramatic later, I prefer the subtlety of this, one of my first frames of the morning, taken towards the end of blue hour.
About the stick. It may or may not have been moved into a more pleasing gesture; I couldn’t possibly comment. What I will say is that I don’t know whether I consider this a landscape image, or a still life.
