“Burrowbridge Supermoon”
This was the first 2021 supermoon and it didn’t disappoint. In this image the moon is 99.9% full. Half an hour earlier, it had been 100%. A few seconds before it was due to drop behind the ruined church of St Michael in Burrowbridge, Somerset, the moon got lost in the haze on the horizon.
A friend of mine said that I shouldn’t have included the vehicles in the foreground of this image, but I like the context that they give to the shot. They give some feeling to the flat Somerset Levels that surrounds the iconic islands that home Glastonbury Tor and Burrow Mump. It would have been nice for a bit more of the mist which is lapping the left side of the hill to build, but there is always next full moon!
