“Stormy Sandtracks”
My trip to Lewis and Harris was very successful for a first visit. I took images I am pleased with. But first encounters with a new landscape are like a brief introduction at a networking event—you land briefly on a few topics of interest and then move on. When I return to Lewis and Harris, these sand tracks will be a big focus for me. I took this image 10 minutes after first seeing these circles drawn in the sand by the wind in the grass. I spent another 30 minutes trying to frame a composition later the same day on Luskentyre, but those frames aren’t the same as these dark stormy clouds and the soft morning light catching the sand in the air and giving the scene an ethereal glow.
