MacLeod’s Stone Stars

“The Stone and the Plough”

Most of my time on the Isle of Harris was overcast. I didn’t mind too much as I wanted moody pictures from Scotland, but when the skies cleared on one of the nights, I took the opportunity to shoot the stars. Geomagnetic activity had been strong earlier in the week and I was hoping to catch some aurora, but none was visible to the naked eye. However, when I got the shot back on a computer screen, a little green is visible on the horizon!

This image was shot with a Kase star glow filter to make the constellations pop.
